Colonic Hydrotherapy

Colonic Hydrotherapy

Colonic hydrotherapy helps cleanse the colon of toxins, gas, accumulated matter and mucous deposits. Warm water is gently introduced into the rectum, which progressively softens and expels faecal matter and compacted deposits. Such techniques were first recorded in 1500 BC and have been used in traditional and naturopathic medicine since that time. Colonic hydrotherapy, unlike laxatives, is not habit forming and actually improves the tone of the colon.

What is involved?

Using sterile equipment, filtered water at a carefully regulated temperature is introduced under gentle gravitational pressure through the rectum using a small tube into the colon. The water begins to cleanse the colon of faecal matter, parasites and old deposits, which are piped away with the waste water. Working progressively around the structure of the colon the therapist allows water alternatively to flow in and then release. Herbal infusions can be added to relax the colon or disperse gas.

The process should be painless (some people may experience slight cramping) and it takes up to one hour. In general people feel instantly better, clear and refreshed.

Why have a Colonic?

Waste material that is stuck in the colon can cause many problems. It can be quite toxic, and these toxins enter the blood stream making us feel ill, tired or weak. Typical symptoms of being toxic are bad skin, bad breath, body odour, bloating, wind, headaches, lack of energy and a general feeling of being unwell. Impacted materials also impair the colon’s ability to absorb minerals and nutrients. The build up of matter can inhibit the movement through the bowel, which can cause constipation and other associated problems.

Abdominal and Colon Massages

When the digestion process is inhibited due to multitude of causes such as stress, inactive lifestyle, malabsorption, illness, degenerative conditions, excessive gas, dehydration or processes of stagnation, abdominal disorders like IBS (Crohn’s or ulcerative colitis), spastic colon, chronic constipation, dislocation of female reproductive organs and problems caused by childbirth, miscarriages, infections and so on, the smooth muscle of the abdominal cavity also suffers tremendously. This suffering of the muscle often manifests itself through: Pain in the sides, lower back pain, inguinal and joint pain at the pelvis, rib pain, inhalation and exhalation pain, heaviness and unease. Sometimes these symptoms are also accompanied by anxiety, tingling, goosebumps etc.

Abdominal massage aims at dissolving blockages, untying knots and tangles, releasing sometimes very painful abdominal congestion and eliminating areas of very old constrictions. It should help the client to relax fully, and allow vital energy to flow freely again, revitalizing the whole abdomen and beyond to the rest of the body. On the physiological level, abdominal massage should help resolve chronic conditions such as constipation and diarrhoea, spastic colon, gastritis, ulcers of all kinds, abdominal cramps and menstruation problems.

These conditions are alleviated by the use of abdominal massage.
